Winter storm Landon wreaks havoc from Texas to Maine

Over 100 million people are under winter weather alerts on Thursday, affecting people in 25 states as the winter storm Landon stretches the Mexican border in Texas to Canadian borders in the Northeast, CNN reported. As a result of the storm, major highways have closed, and thousands of flights have been delayed.

Over 100,000 without power

The Southern Plains have taken the brunt of the damage from winter storm Landon, with over 100,000 people without power as of 7 AM ET, according to Concerns for Texas power grid or elevated before the storm and, thus far, Lone Star State has taken the brunt of power outages from winter storm Landon.

As of 8 AM local time, 71,502 were without electricity in Texas, 25,890 in Arkansas, Indiana 6046, Oklahoma 4909, Illinois 2724, Louisiana 2608, Ohio 2315, Pennsylvania 2196, New York 2110, Mississippi 1534, Virginia 1287, New Jersey 1993, Alabama 1181, and Michigan 1164.

Thursday: Winter storm Landon will stretch from New Mexico to Maine. Heavy snow across the Ohio Valley and Northeast. An ice storm from Texas to Maine.

In the South, thunderstorms with the threat of severe weather over Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama and the threat of flash flooding over Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, and the Florida Panhandle.

Friday: Winter storm Landon tracks East bringing an ice storm over the mid-South, mid-Atlantic, and Northeast. Snow over the northern corridor from Washington to Maine, including the Ohio Valley. Thunderstorms for the southeast.

Saturday: Snow over the northern tier from Idaho to the Great Lakes. An ice storm for the southeast over Georgia and the Carolinas. Rain for the southeast Atlantic coast and all of Florida.
