It’s going to be dangerously hot for the eastern half of the US and grow even hotter on Thursday in the Northeast, Strong storms over the Midwest and Ohio Valley bring the risk of severe weather and flooding. 3-day forecast.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued the following weather alerts for Wednesday:

Flood warning: southeastern Illinois; southwestern Indiana; southeastern Missouri, western Kentucky.

Flood watch: northern, central, west-central and southwestern New Mexico.

Heat advisory for portions of: Montana, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.

Red flag warning: central, southeastern and eastern Washington; central, north central and northeast Oregon; central and eastern Montana.

The heat will climb throughout the week, with hotter air moving into the Northeast where temperatures will reach dangerous levels and 100+ heat indexes. Here is the latest 3-day forecast from the National Weather Service (NWS).

Wednesday: Widespread heat warnings for eastern half of US, severe weather and flooding threat

Scattered thunderstorms in the West and over portions of the Midwest, Ohio Valley, South and Southeast.

Level 2 severe weather risk over the Midwest for portions of Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan, according to the Storm Prediction Center (SPC).

Strong storms will deliver heavy rain with the potential of flash flooding over portions of Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan.

Critical fire weather in the northwest with full evacuations ordered in the Lake Mary Ronan area of Montana, NBC reported.

Thursday: Dangerous heat, Significant flood threat on two fronts

Scattered thunderstorms over portions of the West and Southwest, as well as across the South, Southeast, mid-South, Ohio Valley, and parts of the mid-Atlantic and Northeast.

Potential strong storms over Montana in the West, and over portions of Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania in the East.

Heavy rain with the potential of flash flooding in the West over portions of Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico, as well as in the East over portions of Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York.

Dangerous heat, particularly for the Northeast where temperatures are expected in the upper 90s with heat indexes of 100+ degrees.

Critical fire weather for central and north-central Montana, with red flag alerts likely for other parts of the Northwest.

Friday: Flooding risk in West/Southwest; thunderstorms for the East

Significant thunderstorms over the West and Southwest will bring heavy rain with the risk of flash flooding over parts of California, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado and Arizona. In the East, widespread thunderstorms over parts of the South, Southeast, mid-South, Ohio Valley, mid-Atlantic and Northeast.
