A winter storm will move across the US this week, bringing heavy snow and freezing rain, while in the South, severe weather along the Gulf will bring dangerous conditions and possible flooding.
Snow will stretch along the northern tier from Washington into the Great Lakes region, into parts of the Ohio Valley and Midsouth, as well as into the mid-Atlantic and Northeast.
Heavy snow in the Southwest over central and eastern New Mexico into northern Texas, as well as in the Northeast over southeastern and eastern New York, central and southern Vermont, New Hampshire, as well as western, southern and southeastern Maine.
Thunderstorms over southern New Mexico and throughout much of Texas, as well as central and southern Florida.
Rain along the eastern coast over parts of North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York.
Widespread snow across the nation. In the West, over portions of Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada, Colorado, and New Mexico. In the central US, snow over parts of the Dakotas, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas, as well as the upper Midwest over Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. Along the Gulf, a Level 2 severe weather risk over parts of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and the Florida Panhandle. While a stronger Level 3 severe weather risk over Southern in southeastern Louisiana, southeastern Mississippi, southwestern Alabama, and the Western Florida Panhandle, according to the Storm Prediction Center (SPC).
